Congratulations on the book, its success and well done for making it
available as a PDF.
I'd really like to see if you could go one step further, and make the
book available under a free culture licence (such as cc-by-sa).
The Official Ubuntu Book has showed that this is possible
(http://mako.cc/copyrighteous/20070706-00) from both a practical and
economic point of view.
I think there are several powerful reasons to follow suit. First, it
would mean that where relevant, information from the book could be
incorporated into the Ubuntu onboard documentation (with accreditation
given to you). This would improve the Ubuntu user experience. Secondly
I think it would send a great message of thanks to the Ubuntu
community, whose guiding philosophy is that software and content
should be free. Ubuntu wouldn't exist without that philosophy.
Thirdly, I think it would set a great example for future books, which
can therefore build on your work in the same way that Ubuntu as a
product builds on the work of other software producers who choose this
philosophy.
