Ubuntu Pocket Guide and Reference -- now available

Hi

I'm pleased to announce that my new book, Ubuntu Pocket Guide and
Reference, is now available. It's a compact yet comprehensive guide to
all aspects of day-to-day Ubuntu use.

You can buy it from Amazon.com for a recession-busting $9.94. It's
approximately 5x8 inches and 166 pages (ISBN 978-1440478291).

Uniquely, the PDF Edition of the book is available entirely free of
charge from http://www.ubuntupocketguide.com. What's more, people are
encouraged to share the PDF Edition file with friends, and even upload
it to file-sharing networks. The PDF Edition is exactly the same as
the Print Edition.

For more details, and to download the PDF Edition, visit the website:

http://www.ubuntupocketguide.com

If you've got any questions, get in touch.

Cheers

Keir Thomas

[Developer] Process change: Developer applications

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

The process for applying as a Core Developer, MOTU or Contributing
Developer changed slightly: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopers

The aim of the process change was to come to speed up the existing
process by:
- getting better and more complete feedback earlier
- establish predictable MC meetings where voting is done

The new way of applying works like this:
- Set up a personal wiki page for your application. Please make use of
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/DeveloperApplicationTemplate.
(Talk to your sponsors beforehand and ask them to add some information
to the wiki page. In a regular application your will have 3-5 sponsors.)
- Add your application details to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Council/Meeting, give a quick heads-up on
the motu-council list and pick a meeting time you'll be able to attend.
Please allow at least one week of time for the MOTU Council members to
review your application. (If you can't make it to one of the meetings,
please email motu-council@lists.ubuntu.com for either a different
meeting time or to process the application on the mailing list.)
- Attend the meeting.

- ---

Have a great day,
Daniel
