Palm's new phone is ready for Web apps

On day one of CES, device maker Palm introduced the Pre, a new touch-screen mobile phone designed to compete with Apple's iPhone. One of its big features  is its WebOS operating system, which takes advantage of traditional software applications. The OS puts a bigger emphasis than Apple on building rich mobile Web apps. Its built-in browser will be the cornerstone for many mobile-optimized applications which work on sites like Facebook, Gmail,  and Amazon.com.

The new versions of iLife and iWork 2009 have new integration with big sites like Flickr and Facebook. iWork also gets the added benefit of having an online component called iWork.com, which will be a place where users can share files and collaborate on them with others.  Read more 
Google testing Chrome 2.0

The next version of Google's Chrome browser is already available for testing. This week Google opened up testing to brave users who can subscribe to three different development versions of the software. New features include a faster rendering engine, form auto-complete, and profiles, which will keep your bookmarks and button layout separate from other users.  Read more 
Ford trucks getting LogMeIn remote PC access

The remote PC access product LogMeIn is getting into trucks. A branded version of the software, "LogMeIn for Ford Work Solutions" will be included in the new F-150 trucks (and a few other models) equipped with the optional Ford Works Solutions suite, a collection of options that includes Internet access, a dashboard monitor, and a wireless keyboard and pointing device.  Read more

3DVU announced Way2Go at CES this week, a mobile app and online mapping service that will let you put personalized 3D routes on your mobile phone. Subscribers will be able to create up to 30 3D aerial picture routes online, which they'll then be able to access from their cell phones through a downloadable viewer.  Read more
