However I would be around during most of the holiday period, so if any pending housekeeping work
needs to be done, I am all for it.

Why not just include it at the top of the next issue, which is the last
of the year, and spare people the extra email?

Once there's a decision -- and it seems pretty well along at this
point -- it would probably make sense to send an announcement to the
same lists that receive the FWN, stating the plans. Happy holidays
everyone!
